R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Members of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Odessa are
gathering on February 13, 2011, to celebrate the installation of
their new pastor, Ray D. Hicks; and
WHEREAS, Since assuming the pulpit in October 2010, Pastor
Hicks has brought energy and enthusiasm to his new post and has
helped to foster the growth of church membership; he moved to West
Texas from Austin, where he served at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist
Church; and
WHEREAS, Bethlehem Baptist Church was founded in 1959 by the
Reverend R. S. Sutton; the congregation benefited from Reverend
Sutton's able leadership for more than half a century, and the
tradition of dedicated service that he established continues today
under the direction of Pastor Hicks; and
WHEREAS, The installation of Pastor Hicks marks the beginning
of a momentous new chapter in the life of this notable house of
worship, and members of the congregation may indeed look forward to
many years of worship and fellowship under his guidance; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Ray D. Hicks on his installation as
pastor of the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Odessa and extend to him
sincere best wishes for continued success with his important work;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Pastor Hicks as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
