| WHEREAS, Russell Pennington of the Amarillo Independent | ||
| School District received well-deserved recognition when he was | ||
| named a Teacher of the Year by the Region 16 Education Service | ||
| Center in August 2012; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The winners of these prestigious annual awards are | ||
| first nominated for consideration by their fellow faculty members, | ||
| and they advance through district selections before becoming | ||
| eligible for the regional honor; Mr. Pennington was picked from a | ||
| field of six to earn the Secondary Teacher of the Year title; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A geometry instructor at Caprock High School, this | ||
| outstanding educator focuses on building confidence and | ||
| self-esteem among the young people in his classes so that they feel | ||
| more capable of mastering the subject matter at hand; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Through his creativity, energy, and | ||
| resourcefulness, Russell Pennington has inspired in his students a | ||
| love of learning that will serve them well throughout their lives; | ||
| now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate Russell Pennington on his | ||
| selection as a Teacher of the Year by the Region 16 Education | ||
| Service Center and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued | ||
| success with his important work; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Mr. Pennington as an expression of high regard by the | ||
| Texas House of Representatives. | ||
