| WHEREAS, Allison Woodington of the Amarillo Independent | ||
| School District was selected as the Region 16 Texas Elementary | ||
| Teacher of the Year for 2014-15; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Texas Teacher of the Year program, run by the | ||
| Texas Association of School Administrators, distinguishes faculty | ||
| members who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to | ||
| education; in recognition of her exemplary work as a kindergarten | ||
| teacher at Carver Early Childhood Academy, Allison Woodington was | ||
| named Elementary Teacher of the Year for Amarillo ISD in May 2014; | ||
| she went on to receive the same commendation for Region 16 at the i3 | ||
| Conference in August; and | ||
| WHEREAS, During her four years at Carver Academy, | ||
| Ms. Woodington prepared her kindergarten students for the rest of | ||
| their educational careers through a unique mix of active | ||
| engagement, innovative technology, and group work; the children | ||
| would solve problems together or teach each other new concepts, | ||
| improving their understanding of the content while promoting social | ||
| skills; in addition to her classroom duties, Ms. Woodington also | ||
| served as the school's administrative assistant, courtesy | ||
| committee leader, PR representative, and head of her grade level; | ||
| and | ||
| WHEREAS, This Dallas native currently works as a curriculum | ||
| assessment specialist at Coronado Elementary School; she has a | ||
| master's degree in educational leadership from West Texas A&M | ||
| University, and she is affiliated with the Texas Classroom Teachers | ||
| Association; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Through her enthusiasm, personal involvement, and | ||
| dedication to her students, Allison Woodington has set a remarkable | ||
| example of leadership and innovation to which others may aspire, | ||
| and it is a privilege to recognize this noteworthy educator at this | ||
| time; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate Allison Woodington on being named | ||
| Elementary Teacher of the Year for Region 16 and extend to her | ||
| sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it | ||
| further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Ms. Woodington as an expression of high regard by the | ||
| Texas House of Representatives. | ||
