	H.R. No. 33



	R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, The thousands of deaths caused by COVID-19 in Texas
	have created a tremendous void in families, communities, and
	workplaces throughout the state; among those who lost their lives
	in the pandemic was Rodrick L. Rodgers, a dedicated and highly
	respected employee of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, who
	passed away on November 11, 2020, at the age of 45; and
	WHEREAS, Officer Rodgers was a 10-year TDCJ veteran and
	served as the food services manager at the Eastham Unit in Lovelady;
	his love of cooking was demonstrated both on and off the job; he
	especially delighted in barbecuing, and he prepared meals for a
	range of special events, including community outings and
	fundraisers and his popular Super Bowl parties; everything he did
	was informed by his deep religious faith, and he considered his
	wife, his children, and his stepchildren to be his greatest
	blessings; in the workplace, he was widely respected by his
	coworkers, who appreciated his humility and kindness, as well as
	the deep interest he took in the well-being of everyone around him;
	and
	WHEREAS, Rodrick Rodgers faithfully and ably performed his
	duties throughout his tenure with the Texas Department of Criminal
	Justice, and he will long be remembered with great admiration by all
	who were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
	Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
	Rodrick L. Rodgers and extend deepest sympathy to his family,
	friends, and colleagues; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
	prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
	Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Rodrick L.
	Rodgers.
