WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the | ||
death of Dr. Kenneth Rochell Leggett, Jr., of Pettus on September | ||
11, 2010, at the age of 79; and | ||
WHEREAS, Kenneth Leggett, Jr., was born in Westlake, | ||
Louisiana, on August 26, 1931, to Kenneth and Juanita Leggett, and | ||
he grew up in Pettus, Texas; after attending the Schreiner | ||
Institute in Kerrville and graduating from The University of Texas | ||
at Austin, he earned his medical degree from the Baylor College of | ||
Medicine in 1955; and | ||
WHEREAS, Dr. Leggett was joined in matrimony to Beverly | ||
Leggett in 1956, and together they shared a fulfilling relationship | ||
that was blessed with three children, Kenneth, Steven, and | ||
Kathleen, as well as three grandchildren, Billy, Kit, and Courtney; | ||
and | ||
WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Dr. Leggett | ||
served as a flight surgeon with the U.S. Air Force in Albuquerque, | ||
attaining the rank of captain; after his military service, he | ||
completed a residency in Dallas; he moved with his family to | ||
Arlington in 1961, where he maintained an obstetrics and gynecology | ||
practice for 41 years; and | ||
WHEREAS, Dr. Leggett served his community as a member of the | ||
Rotary Club of Arlington, and he was often privately generous to | ||
those in need; he loved the outdoors, and for 20 years he delighted | ||
in his annual hunting and fishing trip to Alaska; after retiring | ||
from his medical practice, he returned to his hometown of Pettus, | ||
where he enjoyed working on his ranch; and | ||
WHEREAS, Kenneth Leggett treasured the time he spent in the | ||
company of his family and friends, and those he leaves behind will | ||
cherish their memories of his kindness, loyalty, pragmatism, and | ||
honesty; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas | ||
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Dr. Kenneth Rochell | ||
Leggett, Jr., and extend sincere condolences to the members of his | ||
family: to his wife of 54 years, Beverly Leggett; to his son, Steven | ||
Leggett; to his daughter, Kathleen Linscott, and her husband, Bill; | ||
to his grandchildren, Billy, Kit, and Courtney Linscott; and to his | ||
other relatives and friends; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | ||
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dr. Kenneth | ||
Rochell Leggett, Jr. | ||
