| WHEREAS, Family and a host of friends will forever cherish | ||
| the life of Dorothy Tapley of Emory, who died on May 4, 2011, at the | ||
| age of 72; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Born to Grady and Lessie Brown on June 11, 1938, in | ||
| Texarkana, Arkansas, the former Dot Brown enjoyed the companionship | ||
| of seven siblings, Sam, Roy, Mike, Paul, Beulah, Jean, and Bea; and | ||
| WHEREAS, She married Bob "B. T." Tapley, and the two went on | ||
| to share nearly 40 rewarding years together and to raise five | ||
| children, Mike, Ron, James, Susie, and Teresa; later, they | ||
| delighted in watching their family grow to include three | ||
| grandchildren; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A devout Baptist and an accomplished homemaker, Mrs. | ||
| Tapley took great joy in caring for her family and her friends; her | ||
| favorite pastimes included sitting on the front porch on a | ||
| beautiful day, often accompanied by her faithful dog, Cody; she | ||
| also enjoyed observing colorful birds at the feeders that she | ||
| provided outside her kitchen window, and she loved to drop a fishing | ||
| line; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Dot Tapley will | ||
| remember the way she touched their lives with her warmth and | ||
| kindness, and she will always hold a treasured place in their | ||
| hearts; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas | ||
| Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory | ||
| of Dorothy Tapley and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her | ||
| family: to her devoted husband, B. T. Tapley; to her children, Mike | ||
| Renfro, Ron Tapley, James Tapley, and Teresa Shiflet and her | ||
| husband, Curtis; to her grandchildren, Robyn Meade, Angela Shiflet, | ||
| and Jason Shiflet; to her sisters, Jean Rounsavall and her husband, | ||
| Ray, and Bea Turner; and to her other relatives and friends; and, be | ||
| it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of | ||
| Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dot Tapley. | ||
