| WHEREAS, The Waco Euterpean Club was recognized with a number | ||
| of awards at the Texas Federation of Music Clubs centennial | ||
| anniversary celebration, which took place March 19 through 21, | ||
| 2015, in Brownwood; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The event commemorated the meeting that was held in | ||
| 1915 to unite the music clubs of Texas under the umbrella of the | ||
| Texas Federation of Music Clubs; founded in 1894, Waco Euterpean is | ||
| one of the oldest such groups in the state, and today, members | ||
| continue to sponsor musical programs and initiatives throughout the | ||
| community; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Members of Waco Euterpean took home numerous | ||
| state-level awards from the celebration, which included having | ||
| their Parade of American Music Report sent on to national | ||
| competition; honored as the number one club in Texas in outreach | ||
| musical hours, the group saw one of its members, Jean Pinner, place | ||
| first in that category as well; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The members of the Waco Euterpean Club have | ||
| demonstrated an outstanding commitment to musicianship and the arts | ||
| in their community, and they may take pride in their spirited | ||
| efforts and in the many well-deserved accolades they have received; | ||
| now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate the Waco Euterpean Club on its | ||
| success at the Texas Federation of Music Clubs centennial | ||
| celebration and extend to the club sincere best wishes for the | ||
| future; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Waco Euterpean as an expression of high regard by the | ||
| Texas House of Representatives. | ||
