WHEREAS, Al Jones received the 2011 Brad Lomax Spirit of | ||
Hospitality Award from the Corpus Christi Convention and Visitors | ||
Bureau in recognition of his commitment to local tourism; and | ||
WHEREAS, A resident of Corpus Christi since 1970, Al Jones | ||
first moved to the area to head the South Texas operations of | ||
American Bank, which he leads today as president and CEO; a former | ||
chair of the board of directors of the convention and visitors | ||
bureau, he has long been aware of the important role tourism plays | ||
in the community and its economy, and he has worked to promote the | ||
city as a tourist destination; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Jones most recently led a successful effort at | ||
his bank to raise $300,000 to install high-efficiency lights on the | ||
Harbor Bridge in downtown Corpus Christi; the bridge has not been | ||
lit since 1998; and | ||
WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan has contributed significantly | ||
to the economic prosperity and positive image of Corpus Christi, | ||
and he is indeed deserving of this prestigious award; now, | ||
therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas | ||
Legislature hereby congratulate Al Jones on his receipt of the 2011 | ||
Brad Lomax Spirit of Hospitality Award and extend to him sincere | ||
best wishes for the future; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Mr. Jones as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
House of Representatives. | ||
