WHEREAS, Phillip Martin has rendered outstanding service to | ||
his colleagues and his fellow Texans as executive director of the | ||
House Democratic Caucus; and | ||
WHEREAS, An alumnus of The University of Texas at Austin, | ||
Mr. Martin earned a master of public policy degree from Harvard | ||
Kennedy School; he has been involved in politics and public policy | ||
for many years, and he began his affiliation with the Texas | ||
Legislature as the chief of staff for State Representative Garnet | ||
Coleman in 2006; over the course of his career, he has served as | ||
deputy director of Progress Texas, as policy director for the Texas | ||
Legislative Study Group, as a communications specialist for the | ||
Texas Democratic Trust, and as a blogger for the Burnt Orange | ||
Report; he currently manages the Environmental Defense Fund's | ||
initiative to promote the use of zero-emission trucks in Texas; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Martin joined the House Democratic Caucus in | ||
2017, and he demonstrated exceptional dedication and leadership | ||
over the course of his tenure as its executive director, which | ||
concluded in 2021; and | ||
WHEREAS, The House Democratic Caucus has benefited immensely | ||
from Phillip Martin's steadfast commitment to its mission, and he | ||
may indeed reflect with pride on all that he has accomplished; now, | ||
therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby honor Phillip Martin for his exemplary service | ||
as executive director of the House Democratic Caucus and extend to | ||
him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Mr. Martin as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
House of Representatives. | ||
