| WHEREAS, Agent Joe Mireles of Hidalgo County is being | ||
| recognized as the South Region Officer of the Year by the Texas | ||
| Narcotic Officers Association; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Established in 1970, the Texas Narcotic Officers | ||
| Association is a professional training organization for police, | ||
| prosecutors, and other officials who are involved in the | ||
| enforcement of drug laws in the State of Texas; the TNOA South | ||
| Region Officer of the Year award recognizes exceptional skill, | ||
| dedication, and effectiveness in combating drug-related crimes; | ||
| and | ||
| WHEREAS, Agent Mireles has 32 years of experience working in | ||
| law enforcement, and he has specialized in the field of drug | ||
| investigations for more than a decade while working with the | ||
| Houston Police Department, the McAllen Police Department, and the | ||
| Hidalgo County Criminal District Attorney's Office - High Intensity | ||
| Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force; from fiscal year 2022 | ||
| investigations alone, his accumulated seizures included over 120 | ||
| kilograms of cocaine and nearly 300 grams of methamphetamine, as | ||
| well as some $300,000 in U.S. currency; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Through his commitment to the highest standards of | ||
| his profession, Joe Mireles has helped promote public safety in the | ||
| State of Texas, and he is truly deserving of this prestigious honor; | ||
| now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
| Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Agent Joe | ||
| Mireles on his selection as the South Region Officer of the Year by | ||
| the Texas Narcotic Officers Association and extend to him sincere | ||
| best wishes for continued success with his important work; and, be | ||
| it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Agent Mireles as an expression of high regard by the | ||
| Texas House of Representatives. | ||
