| WHEREAS, Jim Miller is retiring from Waxahachie High School | ||
| in 2017, drawing to a close an exemplary career as a coach that has | ||
| spanned more than three decades; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Miller joined the athletic department at | ||
| Waxahachie High in 1985, and he has ably served as an assistant | ||
| baseball, softball, and football coach; after taking on the role of | ||
| head coach of the Indians baseball team during the 2002-2003 | ||
| season, he was named interim head coach of the Lady Indians in 2007 | ||
| and then returned to the position of head coach for the following | ||
| year; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Over the course of his notable tenure, Coach Miller | ||
| has compiled an impressive list of accomplishments; he has helped | ||
| guide the Indians baseball team to 28 postseason berths, including | ||
| three appearances in the University Interscholastic League state | ||
| tournament and two in the state finals; moreover, he played an | ||
| instrumental role in piloting the 1992 football team to the UIL 4A | ||
| championship title; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Jim Miller has served as an inspiring mentor and | ||
| role model to countless young Texans, and he may indeed reflect with | ||
| pride on his numerous achievements as he embarks on the next | ||
| exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate Jim Miller on the occasion of his | ||
| retirement from Waxahachie High School and extend to him sincere | ||
| best wishes for continued happiness and fulfillment; and, be it | ||
| further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Coach Miller as an expression of high regard by the | ||
| Texas House of Representatives. | ||
