R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Mercedes Virginia Gonzalez is graduating as the
  salutatorian of the senior class of Foy H. Moody High School in
  2017; and
         WHEREAS, Earning the title of salutatorian requires not only
  intellect and aptitude but also four years of dedication to the
  highest academic standards; Ms. Gonzalez has demonstrated a
  thorough understanding of a wide range of subjects, and her
  attainment of this coveted distinction is the crowning achievement
  of a notable high school career; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Oscar and Janie Gonzalez,
  Ms. Gonzalez plans to continue her education at Southwestern
  University, studying biology and business; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout her academic career, Mercedes Virginia
  Gonzalez has earned the respect and admiration of her teachers and
  classmates, and her exceptional scholastic ability, hard work, and
  commitment to excellence have opened the way to limitless
  opportunities for this remarkable young Texan; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Mercedes Virginia Gonzalez,
  salutatorian of the Class of 2017 at Foy H. Moody High School, and
  extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success as she
  begins the next exciting chapter of her life; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Gonzalez as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
