WHEREAS, Officer Dan White retired as a full-time member of | ||
the Richardson Police Department on January 31, 2010, after nearly | ||
three decades of service to the department; and | ||
WHEREAS, A graduate of J. J. Pearce High School in | ||
Richardson, Mr. White earned his bachelor's degree in criminal | ||
justice at The University of Texas at Arlington before joining the | ||
Richardson Police Department in 1980; and | ||
WHEREAS, Officer White initially worked in the patrol | ||
division and then served for a time as an undercover narcotics | ||
officer; he was subsequently assigned to the criminal | ||
investigations division, where for the next 20 years he focused on | ||
crimes against persons, burglary and theft, and youth crimes; along | ||
the way, he served on two Federal Bureau of Investigation task | ||
forces; he is certified as a master peace officer, and he was named | ||
patrolman of the year for 1984 and investigator of the year for | ||
1996; and | ||
WHEREAS, This outstanding law enforcement professional | ||
continues to work part-time as a neighborhood police officer on the | ||
west side of the city, where he grew up; and | ||
WHEREAS, Dan White's dedication, professionalism, and | ||
commitment to the safety and welfare of the public have greatly | ||
benefited the citizens of Richardson, and he may indeed reflect | ||
with pride on his accomplishments even as he continues to serve; | ||
now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas | ||
Legislature hereby congratulate Dan White on his retirement as a | ||
full-time officer with the Richardson Police Department and extend | ||
to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Officer White as an expression of high regard by the | ||
Texas House of Representatives. | ||
