| WHEREAS, Emily Akers graduated as salutatorian of the senior | ||
| class of Poteet High School on May 31, 2013; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Earning the title of salutatorian requires not only | ||
| intellect and aptitude, but also four years of dedication to the | ||
| highest academic standards; to attain this coveted distinction, | ||
| Ms. Akers demonstrated a thorough understanding of a wide range of | ||
| subjects, and the rewards of the countless hours she has devoted to | ||
| her studies are myriad; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Active in her community, Ms. Akers has generously | ||
| volunteered her time to such worthwhile causes as the National | ||
| Honor Society Blood Drive and the First Baptist Church Fall | ||
| Festival; she plans to continue her education at Texas A&M | ||
| University and study civil engineering; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Throughout her academic career, Emily Akers has | ||
| earned the respect and admiration of her teachers and classmates at | ||
| Poteet High School, and her exceptional scholastic ability, hard | ||
| work, and commitment to excellence have opened the way to limitless | ||
| opportunities for this remarkable young Texan; now, therefore, be | ||
| it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas | ||
| Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Emily Akers, | ||
| salutatorian of the Poteet High School Class of 2013, and extend to | ||
| her sincere best wishes for continued success as she begins the next | ||
| exciting chapter of her life; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Ms. Akers as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
| House of Representatives. | ||
