R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The girls' and boys' swimming and diving teams from
  Prosper High School enjoyed an outstanding 2016-2017 season; and
         WHEREAS, Benefiting from the guidance of head coach Sarah
  Milne, both Prosper High teams clinched their seventh consecutive
  district titles and advanced to the regional meet held in Mansfield
  from February 3 to 4, 2017; the girls' squad placed first at
  regionals, qualifying for the state meet, and the boys' team
  finished fifth overall; moreover, freshman Weston Sitz turned in a
  fourth-place showing in the individual diving event with a score of
  387.3; and
         WHEREAS, A number of Eagle swimmers went on to face off
  against the top competitors in Texas at the University
  Interscholastic League 5A Swimming and Diving State Meet in Austin
  on February 17 and 18; in individual events, Hope Jestes paced the
  group by reaching the championship finals in the girls' 200- and
  500-yard freestyle races, while Taylor Malin participated in the
  500-yard freestyle and Zachary Wachter competed in the boys'
  100-yard butterfly; in team events, Ms. Jestes and Ms. Malin joined
  forces with Jordan Wendt and Ana Hernandez Flores in the girls'
  400-yard freestyle relay, and the quartet of Ms. Jestes, Ms. Wendt,
  Victoria Evans, and Melissa Hailey participated in the girls'
  200-yard freestyle relay; and
         WHEREAS, These talented student-athletes have distinguished
  themselves through a combination of skill, hard work, and an
  enduring commitment to excellence, and they are a source of
  tremendous pride to their classmates and to their many supporters
  in the local community; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Prosper High School girls' and
  boys' swimming and diving teams on their achievements during the
  2016-2017 season and extend to their members, coaches, and staff
  sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the teams as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
