| WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their | ||
| memories of George Eric Cassity of Las Vegas, Nevada, who passed | ||
| away on September 6, 2020, at the age of 71; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Born in Ardmore, Oklahoma, on April 23, 1949, George | ||
| Cassity was the son of June and Martin Cassity; he enlisted in the | ||
| United States Marine Corps and completed two tours of duty in | ||
| Vietnam; after four years of service to his country, he was | ||
| honorably discharged at the rank of lance corporal; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Following his time in the military, Mr. Cassity made | ||
| his home in North Texas from the 1970s until the mid-1990s, during | ||
| which time he was employed as a credit manager and a truck driver; | ||
| in his later years, he contributed to several nonprofits, including | ||
| Catholic Charities, through his work as an accountant; he was a | ||
| gifted artist as well, and his work was included in a number of art | ||
| exhibitions; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Cassity was blessed with a treasured daughter, | ||
| Kate; he also enjoyed the companionship of his beloved cat, Zeppy; | ||
| and | ||
| WHEREAS, Although George Cassity is deeply missed, he will | ||
| always hold a special place in the hearts of those who held him | ||
| dear; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of George Eric Cassity | ||
| and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his | ||
| daughter, Kate Cassity-Costa, and her husband, Jerod; to his | ||
| brothers, Martin, Edward, and William Cassity; and to his other | ||
| relatives and friends; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | ||
| Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of George | ||
| Cassity. | ||
