	H.R. No. 2069



	R E S O L U T I O N

	WHEREAS, Denise Milton, director of the Jasper Public
	Library, was named 2012 Small Community Librarian of the Year by the
	Small Community Libraries Round Table at a ceremony during the
	Texas Library Association Conference held in Fort Worth on April
	26, 2013; and
	WHEREAS, A graduate of the University of Alabama with a
	master's degree in library science, Ms. Milton has been library
	director of the Jasper Public Library since January 2000, and she
	has earned the respect and admiration of the library's staff and
	patrons for her initiative and quiet determination; she has
	successfully sought grant money and other local funds to acquire
	books and equipment, and she has brought a variety of programs to
	the library; and
	WHEREAS, Ms. Milton is also a strong statewide advocate for
	libraries as District 3 delegate leader for the TLA's Legislative
	Day, as chair of the Collection Development Committee for the
	Houston Area Library System, and as a member on the joint task force
	of the TLA and the Texas State Library and Archives Commission to
	review standards for accreditation; she has also served as
	department chair for the Jasper Women's Civic Club and as a member
	of the Tocker Foundation Grant Review Committee; and
	WHEREAS, Ms. Milton's dedication, professionalism, and
	commitment to the mission of the public library have greatly
	benefited the people of Jasper, and she may indeed reflect with
	pride on this prestigious recognition from her peers; now,
	therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
	Legislature hereby congratulate Denise Milton for being named 2012
	Small Community Librarian of the Year and extend to her sincere best
	wishes for continued success; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
	prepared for Ms. Milton as an expression of high regard by the Texas
	House of Representatives.
