H.R. No. 2069

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Mark Harris, immediate past chair of the Texas
Nursery & Landscape Association, has contributed immeasurably to
the association through his leadership and commitment; and
WHEREAS, A trade association that represents all segments of
the industry in Texas, TNLA serves growers, landscapers,
contractors, suppliers, and retailers; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Harris was chair of the board of the association
from February 2010 to February 2011; in addition to his past work on
the governmental affairs and membership committees, he is currently
state landscape director, a member of the landscape and political
action committees, and an education and research foundation
trustee; and
WHEREAS, Beyond his dedicated work with the TNLA, Mr. Harris
has shared his time and talents with the Texas Association of
Landscape Contractors; he served as state president and president
of the Houston chapter, and during his term, the Houston group was
named Chapter of the Year; and
WHEREAS, A certified landscape professional and graduate of
Texas A&M University, Mr. Harris earned his bachelor's degree in
horticulture; for the past two decades, he has owned and operated
Harris Landscape in Houston, and his business has been recognized
with a number of American Landscape Contractors Association awards
for safety and environmental improvements; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his outstanding tenure with TNLA, Mark
Harris has set a high standard of excellence for the benefit of all,
and he truly merits special recognition; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
Legislature hereby commend Mark Harris for his service on the board
of the Texas Nursery & Landscape Association and extend to him
sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Harris as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
