R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  passing of Alton Raymond Samsel of Pleasanton on August 8, 2020, at
  the age of 81; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Otto and Ida Samsel, Ray Samsel was born
  in Von Ormy on September 28, 1938; he served in the U.S. Navy as an
  electronics technician aboard a repair ship; after four years in
  the military, he went on to earn a bachelor's degree in physics from
  St. Mary's University while working at Kelly Air Force Base; over
  the course of a career that spanned 42 years, he was employed as a
  physicist, lab supervisor, project engineer, program manager, and
  supervisor in the Avionics Intermediate Support Repair Program; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Samsel shared a rewarding marriage of 25 years
  with his wife, Sue; he took great pride in a fine family that
  included his 4 children, Donna, Roger, Gary, and Susan, and 2
  stepchildren, Matt and Lisa, as well as 15 grandchildren and
  step-grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; benefiting his
  community, he served on Pleasanton's Charter Review Committee and
  Planning and Zoning Commission; he helped shape the city's master
  plan, and as a member of a long-range planning committee, he worked
  to develop the successful 2015 Pleasanton ISD school bond package;
  moreover, he served on the Atascosa County Early Voting Ballot
  Board; in recent years, he and his wife were very active with
  assisting stray and surrendered pets as members of Atascosa Animal
  Allies; and
         WHEREAS, Ray Samsel made a meaningful difference in the lives
  of his loved ones and fellow citizens alike, and he will always be
  remembered with great affection by those he left behind; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Alton Raymond Samsel
  and extend sincere sympathy to all who mourn his passing; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ray Samsel.
