| WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful endeavor drew to | ||
| a close when Charles Edward Grubbs of Willis passed away on October | ||
| 3, 2009, at the age of 77; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Born on January 9, 1932, in Jean, Charles Grubbs was | ||
| the son of Charles and Lena Grubbs and the brother of Inez, Nora, | ||
| Raymond, Don, Sandy, and Leroy; answering his country's call to | ||
| duty, he joined the United States Air Force and served his country | ||
| during the Korean War; he ultimately spent 13 years in the military | ||
| before returning to civilian life; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Grubbs subsequently enjoyed a three-decade-long | ||
| career with Brown & Root as an executive pilot; following his | ||
| retirement, he and his wife, Barbara, moved to Willis, near Lake | ||
| Conroe, where he employed his carpentry skills in remodeling homes | ||
| and working on various building projects for his family and | ||
| friends; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Grubbs was the father of three children, Donald | ||
| Ray, Cathy, and Vickie, and through the years, his family grew to | ||
| include four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and one | ||
| great-great-grandchild; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Charles Grubbs enjoyed a life that was rich in the | ||
| intangibles that matter most, and he is deeply missed by all those | ||
| who held him dear; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Charles Edward | ||
| Grubbs and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to | ||
| his wife, Barbara Gaeke Grubbs; to his daughters and sons-in-law, | ||
| Cathy and Bruce French and Vickie and Chip Williams; to his sister | ||
| and her husband, Inez and Hank Bramlett; and to his other relatives | ||
| and friends; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | ||
| Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Charles | ||
| Grubbs. | ||
