	H.R. No. 1973



	R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, The Gillespie County Fair and Festivals Association
	Barbecue Cook-off offers participants an opportunity to enjoy good
	times and good eating while also helping to provide scholarships to
	deserving area students; and
	WHEREAS, This Lone Star Barbecue Society championship event
	features an outstanding lineup of talented cooks who put their
	meat-smoking skills to the test as they strive to prepare the
	tastiest fare in the competition; and
	WHEREAS, Proceeds from the cook-off benefit Scholarship
	Fest, which supports the Gillespie County Fair and Festivals
	Association's mission to encourage, instruct, and promote the
	education of youth in the county; through the charitable efforts of
	this exemplary nonprofit, more than $250,000 in scholarship funds
	has been awarded to local high school seniors; and
	WHEREAS, With their many years of experience in hosting the
	Gillespie County Fair and other activities, the dedicated
	volunteers of the fair association are well versed in providing
	quality entertainment, and the barbecue cook-off is sure to be a fun
	and festive gathering that will be a source of fond memories for all
	who participate; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
	Legislature hereby commemorate the Gillespie County Fair and
	Festivals Association Barbecue Cook-off and extend sincere best
	wishes to all those in attendance for an enjoyable and rewarding
	event.
