| WHEREAS, Angela Powell was elected to the Plano Independent | ||
| School District Board of Trustees on May 6, 2017; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Members of the Plano school board work closely with | ||
| parents, teachers, administrators, and other concerned citizens to | ||
| foster a supportive and challenging environment at district | ||
| schools, and in so doing, they are helping to provide young Texans | ||
| with a strong academic foundation on which to build a bright and | ||
| prosperous future; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Ms. Powell earned a bachelor's degree from Houston | ||
| Baptist University and a master's degree in business administration | ||
| from the University of Dallas; she has held teaching positions at | ||
| the collegiate level and has also worked as a substitute teacher; | ||
| over the years, she has dedicated countless hours to the Plano ISD | ||
| Council of PTAs, serving as chair for a number of committees, and | ||
| she has further contributed her time and expertise to the local | ||
| community as a member of the Plano Photographic Traffic Signal | ||
| Advisory Committee; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The education of young Texans is of great importance | ||
| to the future of our state, and as a newly elected trustee of Plano | ||
| ISD, Angela Powell is setting an inspiring example of civic | ||
| engagement in support of this crucial endeavor; now, therefore, be | ||
| it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas | ||
| Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Angela Powell | ||
| on her election to the Plano Independent School District Board of | ||
| Trustees and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, | ||
| be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Ms. Powell as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
| House of Representatives. | ||
