| WHEREAS, Thomas G. Zipp of New Braunfels passed away on | ||
| January 22, 2013, at the age of 76, leaving his family and friends | ||
| with many treasured memories of time spent in his company; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Born on February 20, 1936, in New Braunfels to | ||
| Marvin and Edna Zipp, Tommy Zipp pursued his education at Texas A&M | ||
| University and was a member of the school's Aggie Band and former | ||
| student associations; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Zipp was a champion of agricultural education | ||
| and played a key role in establishing the agriculture department at | ||
| Canyon High School when it opened in 1959; he was also a founding | ||
| member of the Comal County Junior Livestock Show, and he | ||
| contributed in numerous ways to the Comal County Fair Association, | ||
| which he served as president, senior director, and livestock | ||
| superintendent over the course of his involvement; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A farmer and rancher himself, Mr. Zipp found further | ||
| success as a realtor; moreover, he was a member of the New Braunfels | ||
| Evening Lions Club and the Green Valley Water Board; and | ||
| WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Zipp enjoyed the love | ||
| and support of his wife, Mary Jo Zipp, with whom he shared more than | ||
| half a century of marriage; together, they took great pride in their | ||
| daughters, Jill and Jan, and shared in the joy of welcoming three | ||
| grandchildren, Christopher, Shawn, and Patrick, into their family; | ||
| and | ||
| WHEREAS, Tommy Zipp lived a caring and purposeful life, and | ||
| he will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those | ||
| fortunate enough to have known him; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Tommy Zipp and | ||
| extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, | ||
| Mary Jo Zipp; to his daughters, Jill Bennett and her husband, Gregg, | ||
| and Jan Pardee; to his grandchildren, Christopher and Shawn Bennett | ||
| and Patrick Pardee; to his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Herb | ||
| and Barbara Stratton; and to his other relatives and friends; and, | ||
| be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | ||
| Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Tommy Zipp. | ||
