R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The girls' track team from Randolph High School in
  Universal City once again proved itself one of the finest in Texas
  by winning the 3A championship at the 2023 University
  Interscholastic League Track & Field State Meet; and
         WHEREAS, Joining the other top high school competitors at
  Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin on May 11, the Randolph athletes
  turned in an exceptional performance; dominating the field, the
  Ro-Hawks racked up a total score of 94, outdistancing the
  second-place team by 24 points to claim their second consecutive 3A
  crown; and
         WHEREAS, Leading the way for Randolph was Taylor Nunez, who
  collected four gold medals; she set 3A state meet records in two of
  the events, soaring 20 feet, 2.5 inches, in the long jump and
  breaking her own mark in the 100-meter dash with a blistering time
  of 11.44 seconds; moreover, she sprinted to victory in the 200
  meters in 23.42 seconds, and she joined Jaela Smith, Cai Rogers, and
  Jourdann Cathro on the winning 400-meter relay squad that crossed
  the finish line in 47.27 seconds; and
         WHEREAS, Sophia Bendet clinched two gold medals for Randolph,
  winning the 800 meters in 2 minutes, 16.01 seconds, and the 1,600
  meters in 5:07.56; she added a bronze medal as part of the
  1,600-meter relay squad that included Ms. Smith, Ms. Cathro, and
  Grace Kistler, clocking a time of 3:58.39; additionally,
  Ms. Cathro, Ms. Rogers, Tiana James, and Jaeda Jones raced to a
  third-place showing in the 800-meter relay, posting a time of
  1:43.77; and
         WHEREAS, Winning a state championship represents the
  culmination of countless hours of hard work and an unwavering
  commitment to excellence, and the Randolph Ro-Hawks will treasure
  the memory of this accomplishment for the rest of their lives; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Randolph High School girls'
  track team on winning the 3A championship at the 2023 UIL Track &
  Field State Meet and extend to the team's athletes and coaches
  sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Ro-Hawks as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
