R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the
  passing of Welborn Boyd Harris Jr. of Lubbock on January 2, 2021, at
  the age of 93; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Welborn B. Harris Sr. and Callie Lee
  Cissel Harris, "Dub" Harris was born on December 8, 1927, in
  Morganfield, Kentucky, and he grew up with the companionship of two
  sisters, Callie and Florence; after graduating from Union County
  High School, he joined the U.S. Air Force; a staff sergeant, he
  served as a meteorologist with the postwar U.S. occupation forces
  in Japan, and he was discharged in 1948; later, he moved to Lubbock
  and earned his degree in business administration at Texas Tech
  University; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Harris remained in Texas and worked in real
  estate until 1957, when he accepted a position with a subsidiary of
  the Westinghouse Corporation that transferred him to several
  locations throughout the U.S.; he returned to Lubbock in 1964 as the
  dealer principal at Hub Motor Company, and he was subsequently
  employed by Lubbock Methodist Hospital as vice president of
  development; in 1972, he became the first development officer for
  the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, and he later
  became a licensed real estate appraiser, ultimately retiring at the
  age of 86; and
         WHEREAS, A man of deep faith, Mr. Harris taught Sunday school
  at First United Methodist Church of Lubbock, and he was a charter
  member of St. Luke's Lubbock, which he helped organize; in
  addition, he was a former president of the Lubbock Country Club, and
  he was a member of the Greater Southwest Lubbock Rotary Club and the
  Texas Tech Alumni Association; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Harris enjoyed the love
  and support of his wife, Denece, with whom he shared a rewarding
  marriage of more than seven decades; he was the devoted father of
  two daughters, Kitty and Linn, and he took great pride in his four
  grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Although Dub Harris will be deeply missed, he has
  left his family and friends with a wealth of memories that they will
  forever treasure; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Welborn Boyd
  Harris Jr. and extend sincere condolences to his loved ones; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dub Harris.
