| WHEREAS, St. Francis de Sales Catholic School in Houston is | ||
| commemorating the 50th anniversary of its founding with a | ||
| celebration on April 12, 2015; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The school held its first classes on September 8, | ||
| 1964, for children in the first through the sixth grades; following | ||
| the Dominican education philosophy, St. Francis de Sales Catholic | ||
| School helps children to become grounded in their faith while | ||
| encouraging academic excellence and a vibrant sense of community; | ||
| and | ||
| WHEREAS, Over the years, St. Francis de Sales has expanded | ||
| its curriculum while remaining faithful to its established | ||
| principles, and today it serves approximately 470 students from | ||
| prekindergarten through eighth grade; in addition to traditional | ||
| disciplines, the school offers studies in areas such as music, | ||
| Spanish, and technology; it is also home to a number of sports teams | ||
| and academic and service organizations, which give students myriad | ||
| opportunities for enhanced personal development and present | ||
| parents with occasions for further involvement in their children's | ||
| lives; and | ||
| WHEREAS, For five decades, St. Francis de Sales Catholic | ||
| School has equipped a number of young Texans with a strong | ||
| educational foundation, and it is indeed fitting that the school be | ||
| recognized at this point in its rich history; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby commemorate the 50th anniversary of St. Francis | ||
| de Sales Catholic School and extend to its administrators, faculty, | ||
| staff, and students sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it | ||
| further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
| House of Representatives. | ||
