| WHEREAS, The Stingers team of Horizon Heights Elementary | ||
| School in Horizon City received first place in the regional | ||
| Destination Imagination competition on February 28, 2015, earning | ||
| the right to proceed to the state tournament; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Since 1999, Destination Imagination has encouraged | ||
| students to reach creative, collaborative solutions through | ||
| diverse approaches; teams discover how to focus, frame challenges, | ||
| and take risks while developing patience, flexibility, | ||
| persistence, ethics, and respect for others; moreover, they gain | ||
| skills in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and the | ||
| arts, among other disciplines; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Guided by team sponsors Linda Hitter and Lori | ||
| Berumen, the Stingers took top honors in the "Fine Arts--Feary | ||
| Tales" category for their performance of "The Princess of Walalo"; | ||
| the team's six outstanding members are students in grades 3-5; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Stingers worked diligently to prepare for this | ||
| exciting competition, and their first-place finish is a source of | ||
| great pride to their teachers and classmates; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate the Stingers team of Horizon | ||
| Heights Elementary School on winning first place in the regional | ||
| Destination Imagination competition and extend to the members | ||
| sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
| House of Representatives. | ||
