R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Cathryne McNamara of Anderson High School in Austin
  has been selected to receive the Outstanding Teaching of the
  Humanities award; and
         WHEREAS, Funded by Humanities Texas, which advances
  heritage, culture, and education by supporting public programs in
  history, literature, and philosophy, the Outstanding Teaching of
  the Humanities award recognizes exemplary teachers who demonstrate
  expansive knowledge of language arts, history, and social studies;
  and
         WHEREAS, Cathryne McNamara has served for 13 years on the
  faculty at Anderson High School, where she teaches psychology and
  theory of knowledge courses at the International Baccalaureate
  level; deeply committed to her profession, she is a board certified
  teacher and mentor, and she gives generously of her time and talents
  as a member of the Campus and District Advisory Councils and the
  National Honor Society Faculty Council; a member as well of the
  Anti-Defamation League, Ms. McNamara serves as campus coordinator
  for the Anderson High School No Place for Hate program, and she has
  also served as a citizen scholar for The University of Texas at
  Austin Humanities Institute series Teaching Our Teenagers about
  Violence and Peace; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout her career, Ms. McNamara has
  demonstrated a sure mastery of her subjects and an exceptional
  ability to engage her students' interest, and she is a source of
  great inspiration to colleagues and students alike; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Cathryne McNamara on her receipt of
  the Outstanding Teaching of the Humanities award and extend to her
  sincere best wishes for continued success in her vital endeavors;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. McNamara as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
