| WHEREAS, Matt Rhule has been named the new head coach of the | ||
| Baylor University football team; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Over the course of his impressive career, Mr. Rhule | ||
| has coached at Albright College, the State University of New York at | ||
| Buffalo, the University of California at Los Angeles, and Western | ||
| Carolina University, as well as for the New York Giants; he served | ||
| as an assistant at Temple University from 2006 to 2011 and was | ||
| tapped as the school's head coach in 2013; during his four-year | ||
| tenure, he guided the Owls to two consecutive 10-win seasons and two | ||
| consecutive bowl appearances, both of which were firsts in the | ||
| school's history, and his team clinched a pair of American Athletic | ||
| Conference East Division titles and the 2016 AAC championship | ||
| trophy; and | ||
| WHEREAS, After graduating with a bachelor's degree in | ||
| political science from Pennsylvania State University, where he | ||
| played linebacker for the Nittany Lions and earned Penn State | ||
| Scholar-Athlete and Academic All-Big Ten recognition, Mr. Rhule | ||
| went on to receive a master's degree in educational psychology from | ||
| SUNY Buffalo; in all his endeavors, he enjoys the love and support | ||
| of his wife, Julie, and he takes great pride in their three | ||
| children, Bryant, Vivienne, and Leona; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Coach Rhule will now put his dedication and | ||
| expertise to work at Baylor, and the Bears are sure to benefit from | ||
| his proven leadership; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate Matt Rhule on his selection as head | ||
| coach of the Baylor University football team and extend to him | ||
| sincere best wishes for success in his new position; and, be it | ||
| further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Coach Rhule as an expression of high regard by the | ||
| Texas House of Representatives. | ||
