| WHEREAS, Connie Garza was named the First Lady of Mission by | ||
| the Progress Times and the Greater Mission Chamber of Commerce at | ||
| the annual Citizens Awards banquet in October 2016; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Each year, the Mission chamber and the Progress | ||
| Times recognize outstanding citizens for their efforts to benefit | ||
| the local community; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Ms. Garza has given generously of her time and | ||
| talents to such worthy organizations as Mujeres Unidas, Texas | ||
| Oncology, the Texas Silver-Haired Legislature, Calvary Baptist | ||
| Church, and Our Lady of Guadalupe Church Hospitality Center; she | ||
| has further served on the boards of Leadership Mission, the Mission | ||
| Boys and Girls Club, and the Mission Consolidated Independent | ||
| School District, and she is currently partnering with Tamar's | ||
| Tapestry to create a shelter for victims of human trafficking; over | ||
| the years, she has received numerous accolades, including a | ||
| Hispanic of the Year Award and a Star Award from the Texas | ||
| Corrections Association; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Through her exceptional contributions, Connie Garza | ||
| has helped make Mission an even better place in which to live and | ||
| work, and she is indeed deserving of this notable honor; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate Connie Garza on her selection as | ||
| the 2016 First Lady of Mission by the Greater Mission Chamber of | ||
| Commerce and the Progress Times and extend to her sincere best | ||
| wishes for continued success; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Ms. Garza as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
| House of Representatives. | ||
