R E S O L U T I O N

|
WHEREAS, The Mariachi Los Lobos from Palmview High School in |
|
|
Mission was crowned 6A champion of the Texas High School State |
|
|
Mariachi Competition, held in San Antonio in February 2015; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Mexican American School Board |
|
|
Members Association and the Texas Association of Mariachi |
|
|
Educators, this annual competition brought together 35 high school |
|
|
mariachi ensembles from across the Lone Star State; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This was the fifth consecutive appearance by |
|
|
Mariachi Los Lobos at the state finals, where the ensemble claimed |
|
|
its first championship title in 2011; ably led by director Mayra |
|
|
Garcia, the members showcased their musicianship with an impressive |
|
|
set that earned them first place; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The members of the Palmview High School Mariachi Los |
|
|
Lobos have proven themselves one of the finest ensembles in Texas, |
|
|
and these talented young musicians may take pride in this |
|
|
outstanding accomplishment; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Palmview High School Mariachi |
|
|
Los Lobos on being named 6A champion at the 2015 MASBA/TAME Texas |
|
|
High School State Mariachi Competition and extend to the group's |
|
|
members sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mariachi Los Lobos as an expression of high regard by |
|
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
