R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Carlos H. Pena Sr., a valued member of the Robstown
  community and a friend to many, passed away on April 11, 2023, at
  the age of 67; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Gilberto and Guadalupe Pena, Carlos Pena
  was born in Robstown on December 17, 1955; he grew up with the
  companionship of four siblings, Juan, Rene, Alma, and Noe; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Pena enjoyed a rewarding career with the
  Robstown Police Department that spanned three decades, and he led
  the department as police chief for four years; moreover, he taught
  criminal justice for a decade at Robstown High School, and he later
  worked alongside some of his former students who entered the field;
  he further served his community as commissioner and board chair for
  Nueces County Drainage District No. 2; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Pena was the devoted father of three children,
  Lupita, Carlos, and Jonathan, and he also took great pride in his
  grandson, Elijah; and
         WHEREAS, Dedicated to his family and his community, Carlos
  Pena earned the lasting admiration and affection of all who were
  privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Carlos H. Pena Sr. and
  extend heartfelt condolences to the members of his family: to his
  children, Lupita Marie Pena, Carlos Pena Jr., and Jonathan Clint
  Pena; to his mother, Guadalupe Huerta Pena; to his siblings, Rene
  Pena Sr. and his wife, Gracie, Alma Rosa Pena, and Noe Pena and his
  wife, Rachel; to his grandchild, Elijah Lee Reynolds; to his former
  wife, Olga Rojas, the mother of his children and close friend; and
  to his many other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Carlos
  Pena.
