WHEREAS, The National Association of Town Watch sponsors a | ||
well-known nationwide program entitled National Night Out Against | ||
Crime; and | ||
WHEREAS, This notable annual event provides an opportunity | ||
for Texans to join forces with individuals in thousands of other | ||
towns and cities across the country to promote cooperative crime | ||
prevention efforts; and | ||
WHEREAS, Commemorated through neighborhood gatherings, | ||
cookouts, parades, flashlight walks, and other activities, | ||
National Night Out helps to build community cohesiveness, | ||
strengthen relations between residents and local police, and | ||
increase awareness of anticrime strategies, while sending a message | ||
of solidarity to would-be criminals; and | ||
WHEREAS, The importance of reducing crime, drug use, and | ||
violence cannot be overstated, and by taking part in National Night | ||
Out observances, Texans affirm their commitment to making their | ||
communities stronger and safer; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby recognize the 2016 National Night Out Against | ||
Crime as an essential crime prevention event and commend all those | ||
involved in this vital endeavor. | ||
