R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The certain knowledge of a life well lived may
  temper the profound sadness felt by the family and friends of Maria
  Elia Gonzalez of Rio Grande City, who passed away on January 21,
  2013, at the age of 85; and
         WHEREAS, Born in La Grulla on July 24, 1927, the former Maria
  Solis married Abel Gonzalez, and the couple became the parents of
  five children, Abel, Ana, Humberto, Enrique, and Melly; through the
  years, she was further blessed with 12 grandchildren and 12
  great-grandchildren, in whom she took great pride; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Gonzalez inspired others with her abundant
  faith; she helped to establish Sacred Heart Mission in Los Garcias
  and shared her time with the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, the
  Serra Club, Woodmen of the World, the Sacred Heart Organization,
  Vela Perpetua, and the Catholic Mothers Club; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Gonzalez was posthumously awarded the 2013 Good
  Shepherd Award from the Starr County Benedictines; and
         WHEREAS, Although Maria Gonzalez will be deeply missed,
  cherished memories of time spent in her company will long endure in
  the hearts of her many loved ones; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
  Maria Elia Gonzalez and extend deepest sympathy to the members of
  her family: to her children, Ana Maria Gonzalez, Humberto Gonzalez
  and his wife, Cynthia, Enrique Gonzalez and his wife, Gina, and
  Melly Gonzalez Salinas and her husband, Amaro; to her grandchildren
  and great-grandchildren; to her siblings, Silvina Solis Hinojosa,
  Maria Nela Solis Sanchez, Juan Solis, Jr., and his wife, Pita, and
  Dolores Solis Gomez and her husband, Paco; and to her other
  relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Maria Elia
  Gonzalez.
