	H.R. No. 142



	R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Dr. Larry Riedel celebrated his 92nd birthday on
	July 23, 2021, offering a welcome opportunity to pay tribute to this
	esteemed physician and his extraordinary 65-year career in
	medicine; and
	WHEREAS, Born and raised in Yorktown, Larry Riedel comes from
	a family of pharmacists, including his father and great-uncle; he
	initially set his sights on that field, earning a pharmacy degree
	from The University of Texas at Austin in 1952, but he felt that he
	was better suited to a career providing direct patient care; he went
	on to receive his medical degree from The University of Texas
	Medical Branch at Galveston in 1956, and he remained in Galveston
	while completing his internship and residency; during his
	residency, he served a three-year stint in the United States Army,
	where there was a demand for doctors; and
	WHEREAS, Dr. Riedel, a physician of internal medicine with
	the DeTar Medical Group, has been practicing in Victoria for nearly
	six decades, during which time he has earned the trust of patients
	and fellow doctors alike; over the course of his long career, he has
	witnessed and adapted to numerous advances in medical technology
	and treatment, and he has had the satisfaction of seeing his
	community become home to a large number of skilled medical
	specialists; he still works at his office five days each week, and
	he continues to make house calls, a practice that was much more
	common in the early days of his career; and
	WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Dr. Riedel enjoys the love and
	support of his wife, Janyth Riedel, and he takes great pride in his
	family of four children, two grandchildren, and two
	great-grandchildren; and
	WHEREAS, Larry Riedel has distinguished himself as a pillar
	of his community, a beloved friend and neighbor, and a true credit
	to his profession, and it is a pleasure to join his many admirers in
	recognizing him at this time; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
	Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Dr. Larry
	Riedel on his 92nd birthday and extend to him sincere best wishes
	for the future; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
	prepared for Dr. Riedel as an expression of high regard by the Texas
	House of Representatives.
