| WHEREAS, Lya Bejarano of The University of Texas at El Paso | ||
| has greatly benefited her fellow students through her service as | ||
| vice president of internal affairs of the Student Government | ||
| Association; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The UTEP Student Government Association acts as the | ||
| voice of the student body to the college administration, with | ||
| elected members representing the interests and concerns of their | ||
| peers and advocating for students' rights; the organization also | ||
| provides leadership and professional development opportunities as | ||
| participants strive to improve the school's social and educational | ||
| experience; and | ||
| WHEREAS, In order to foster positive change, the UTEP Student | ||
| Government Association facilitates communication between students, | ||
| administration, faculty, staff, and community organizations; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Student Government Association plays a valuable | ||
| role in supporting The University of Texas at El Paso students as | ||
| they develop a solid educational foundation for future achievement, | ||
| and Lya Bejarano is indeed worthy of recognition; now, therefore, | ||
| be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby commend Lya Bejarano for her service as vice | ||
| president of internal affairs of the Student Government Association | ||
| at The University of Texas at El Paso and extend to her sincere best | ||
| wishes for the future; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Ms. Bejarano as an expression of high regard by the | ||
| Texas House of Representatives. | ||
