| WHEREAS, The West High School Trojan Band won its third | ||
| consecutive Sweepstakes Award in spring 2011; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Led by director Steve Hart, the 80-member group | ||
| claimed this prestigious distinction after earning first division | ||
| ratings in the concert and sight-reading competitions; and | ||
| WHEREAS, These outstanding young musicians exhibited poise | ||
| and talent as well as the confidence they have garnered from prior | ||
| achievements, including a Division I rating in University | ||
| Interscholastic League Region 8 Marching in fall 2010; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Through long hours of practice and inspired | ||
| performances, the Trojan Band has developed into an accomplished | ||
| ensemble that is a source of great pride to its school and to its | ||
| many supporters in West; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate the West High School Trojan Band on | ||
| winning its third consecutive Sweepstakes Award and extend to its | ||
| members sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it | ||
| further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
| House of Representatives. | ||
