R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Kora Shores, an eighth-grade student at Bridgeport
  Middle School, has been named the Communities In Schools of North
  Texas 2023 Secondary Student of the Year; and
         WHEREAS, Communities In Schools is a nationwide organization
  committed to ensuring that all students, regardless of race,
  gender, ability, residence, or socioeconomic background, are given
  the resources they need to realize their full potential; the
  organization provides schools with trained local coordinators who
  offer individualized support to help students succeed academically
  and to keep them on a path toward graduation; and
         WHEREAS, Kora Shores was first referred to the Communities In
  Schools program at Bridgeport Middle School when she was in the
  seventh grade; with the support of her CIS site coordinator, Jamey
  Carpenter, and CIS mental health coordinator, Samantha Lott, she
  has made significant progress; and
         WHEREAS, The Communities In Schools program is helping
  countless students like Kora Shores build confidence, improve
  school performance, and make positive life choices, and it is a
  pleasure to join in recognizing Kora for her hard work and
  achievements; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Kora Shores on her selection as the
  Communities In Schools of North Texas 2023 Secondary Student of the
  Year and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Kora as an expression of high regard by the Texas House
  of Representatives.
