WHEREAS, Each year, more than 300 dedicated men and women and | ||
many area organizations volunteer their services for the Waco | ||
Center for Youth; and | ||
WHEREAS, Established in 1979, the center is a residential | ||
treatment facility that serves teens with emotional and behavioral | ||
problems; it bases its treatment philosophy on the belief that an | ||
understanding of self and others is crucial for achieving long-term | ||
change; and | ||
WHEREAS, The Volunteer Services Council at the center | ||
provides goods, services, and personal attention for youths beyond | ||
the care and treatment provided by the state; by giving of their | ||
time and resources, volunteers help the teens to develop their | ||
skills and have a better chance for change; and | ||
WHEREAS, Through their support for the mission of the Waco | ||
Center for Youth, these outstanding volunteers are greatly | ||
benefiting many young people in the Lone Star State, and they are to | ||
be commended for their hard work and achievements; now, therefore, | ||
be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas | ||
Legislature hereby honor the volunteers at the Waco Center for | ||
Youth and extend to them sincere best wishes for the future. | ||
