| WHEREAS, Each year, more than 300 dedicated men and women and | ||
| many area organizations volunteer their services for the Waco | ||
| Center for Youth; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Established in 1979, the center is a residential | ||
| treatment facility that serves teens with emotional and behavioral | ||
| problems; it bases its treatment philosophy on the belief that an | ||
| understanding of self and others is crucial for achieving long-term | ||
| change; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Volunteer Services Council at the center | ||
| provides goods, services, and personal attention for youths beyond | ||
| the care and treatment provided by the state; by giving of their | ||
| time and resources, volunteers help the teens to develop their | ||
| skills and have a better chance for change; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Through their support for the mission of the Waco | ||
| Center for Youth, these outstanding volunteers are greatly | ||
| benefiting many young people in the Lone Star State, and they are to | ||
| be commended for their hard work and achievements; now, therefore, | ||
| be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby honor the volunteers at the Waco Center for | ||
| Youth and extend to them sincere best wishes for the future. | ||
