R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Mabank Area Good Samaritans celebrated its 25th
  anniversary in October 2012; and
         WHEREAS, MAGS began in 1987 as a joint effort by four Mabank
  churches to supply food to families in need; the group partnered
  with the East Texas Food Bank in Tyler, which provided guidelines
  for collecting and distributing goods; and
         WHEREAS, Since that time, MAGS has grown to include nearly a
  dozen member churches, and its capacity to serve the needy has
  greatly increased; in 2000, the group provided food for some 2,000
  people, and in 2011, that number rose to more than 6,600; a true
  community endeavor, MAGS is supported by various local
  organizations and individuals, in addition to its member churches;
  and
         WHEREAS, For a quarter-century, Mabank Area Good Samaritans
  has made significant strides toward alleviating hunger and
  addressing the needs of the most vulnerable, and in so doing, the
  group has contributed to the betterment of Mabank and beyond; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 25th anniversary of Mabank Area
  Good Samaritans and extend sincere best wishes for continued
  success to all those associated with the organization; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mabank Area Good Samaritans as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
