R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Eduardo Treviño of Humble won first place in the
  elementary/middle school category at the 28th Annual Mariachi
  Extravaganza National Vocal Competition held in San Antonio in
  November 2022; and
         WHEREAS, The Mariachi Extravaganza each year attracts more
  than 800 talented musicians, vocalists, and composers from across
  the country; one of the largest and longest-running events of its
  kind, it hosts songwriting and group contests in addition to the
  National Mariachi Vocal Competition; and
         WHEREAS, A fifth grader at Autumn Creek Elementary, Eduardo
  Treviño matched up against seven other finalists in his division at
  the San Antonio contest; he took home first place after dazzling the
  judges and the audience with his incredible vocal performance,
  which included challenging falsetto passages; and
         WHEREAS, Hailing from a long line of musicians, Eduardo has
  displayed a natural ability since early childhood; he started
  singing when he was two years old and learned to play the guitar
  during the COVID-19 pandemic; he won first place overall in the
  local OTI Kids vocal competition sponsored by AMABI Academia de
  Música y Canto in 2022, and he won the Lake Houston's Got Talent
  show in 2021; in the summer of 2022, he attended the University of
  Houston Summer Mariachi Intensive; and
         WHEREAS, Eduardo is very active in the choir at San Leo Magno
  Catholic Church in Houston, and he also performs at many community
  events, including the Disciples of God's Son Best Christmas Ever
  benefit; in all his endeavors, he is supported by his parents, Jose
  and Rosalia Treviño, and his brothers, Aylen and Vicente; and
         WHEREAS, With a rich history of music in his family, Eduardo
  Treviño hopes to keep the tradition alive in the Humble Independent
  School District, and his dedication is opening the way to a future
  bright with promise; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Eduardo Treviño on winning first
  place in the elementary/middle school category at the 28th Annual
  Mariachi Extravaganza National Vocal Competition and extend to him
  sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Eduardo Treviño as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
