WHEREAS, Jean Callison concluded her distinguished service | ||
as a member of the Plano City Council in May 2011; and | ||
WHEREAS, First elected as the Place 7 council member in 2003, | ||
Ms. Callison was returned to office by the voters in 2005 and 2008; | ||
she has been active in her community in numerous ways, serving on | ||
the City of Plano tree ordinance committee, as a committee vice | ||
chair in the National League of Cities, and as a committee member | ||
for the Plano Independent School District Education Foundation; and | ||
WHEREAS, Ms. Callison has also served as president of the | ||
Plano chapter of the Young Men's Service League, the Junior League | ||
of Plano, and a local parent-teacher association; in addition, she | ||
was the treasurer of Plano Youth Leadership, a board member of the | ||
Plano chapter of the National Charity League, a board member and | ||
officer of the Assistance Center of Collin County, and a member of | ||
the Leadership Texas Class of 2009; her work has been recognized | ||
with awards from Leadership Plano and from the Collin County | ||
Children's Advocacy Center; and | ||
WHEREAS, A resident of Plano for more than three decades, | ||
Jean Callison graduated from Plano Senior High School and earned | ||
bachelor's and master's degrees in business administration from | ||
Baylor University; in her work as a public servant, she has drawn on | ||
her eight years of experience as a budget and financial analyst at | ||
Electronic Data Systems; she is a member of ParkwayHills Baptist | ||
Church and has held many positions on the church board; and | ||
WHEREAS, In all of her endeavors, Ms. Callison enjoys the | ||
love and support of her husband, Glenn, and her two children; and | ||
WHEREAS, Jean Callison has demonstrated leadership and | ||
commitment as a member of the city council, and her contributions | ||
have helped make Plano an even better place in which to live and | ||
work; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas | ||
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Jean Callison for | ||
her service on the Plano City Council and extend to her sincere best | ||
wishes for the future; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Ms. Callison as an expression of high regard by the | ||
Texas House of Representatives. | ||
