| BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the 87th | ||
| Texas Legislature, That Rule 4, Section 2(a)(7), of the permanent | ||
| rules of the House of Representatives of the 87th Legislature is | ||
| amended to read as follows: | ||
| (7) The speaker shall designate the chair and | ||
| vice-chair from the total membership of the committee. If, at the | ||
| time the speaker announces the membership of committees, the | ||
| members of one political party constitute a majority of the | ||
| membership of the house, the speaker shall designate a member of | ||
| that party to serve as chair of each committee. | ||
