| BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 9A, Article IX, Texas Constitution, is | ||
| amended to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 9A. (a) The legislature by law may determine the | ||
| health care services a hospital district is required to provide, | ||
| the requirements a resident must meet to qualify for services, and | ||
| any other relevant provisions necessary to regulate the provision | ||
| of health care to residents. | ||
| (b) A hospital district may not use tax revenue of the | ||
| district to finance the performance of an abortion. | ||
| SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be | ||
| submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 8, 2011. | ||
| The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the | ||
| proposition: "The constitutional amendment to prohibit a hospital | ||
| district from using tax revenue to finance the performance of an | ||
| abortion." | ||
