| proposing a constitutional amendment requiring this state to | ||
| observe daylight saving time year-round. | ||
| BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Article XVI, Texas Constitution, is amended by | ||
| adding Section 74 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 74. (a) This state, if authorized by federal law, | ||
| shall observe daylight saving time year-round throughout the state. | ||
| (b) This section applies to all portions of the state, | ||
| regardless of time zone. | ||
| (c) Subsections (a) and (b) of this section apply only if | ||
| the United States Congress enacts legislation that becomes law that | ||
| authorizes this state to observe daylight saving time as prescribed | ||
| by this section. If such federal legislation becomes law, | ||
| Subsections (a) and (b) of this section apply beginning on the first | ||
| date, after the date that federal law takes effect, on which this | ||
| state would otherwise have switched from observing daylight saving | ||
| time to observing standard time. | ||
| SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be | ||
| submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 8, 2022. | ||
| The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the | ||
| proposition: "The constitutional amendment requiring this state to | ||
| observe daylight saving time year-round." | ||
