| BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 65(a), Article XVI, Texas Constitution, | ||
| is amended to read as follows: | ||
| (a) This section applies to the following offices serving | ||
| counties with a population of 100,000 or more according to the most | ||
| recent federal decennial census: District Clerks; County Clerks; | ||
| County Judges; Judges of the County Courts at Law, County Criminal | ||
| Courts, County Probate Courts and County Domestic Relations Courts; | ||
| County Treasurers; Criminal District Attorneys; County Surveyors; | ||
| County Commissioners; Justices of the Peace; Sheriffs; Assessors | ||
| and Collectors of Taxes; District Attorneys; County Attorneys; | ||
| Public Weighers; and Constables. | ||
| SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be | ||
| submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 7, 2023. | ||
| The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the | ||
| proposition: "The constitutional amendment to allow an officer of a | ||
| county with a population of less than 100,000 to become a candidate | ||
| for another office without automatically resigning from the | ||
| currently held office." | ||
