proposing a constitutional amendment prohibiting the use of state | ||
funds to pay for the obligations of a local public retirement | ||
system. | ||
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 67, Article XVI, Texas Constitution, is | ||
amended by adding Subsection (f-1) to read as follows: | ||
(f-1) This state is not liable for any debts or other | ||
obligations of a retirement system described by Subsection (f), and | ||
the legislature may not appropriate money to a retirement system | ||
described by Subsection (f) to pay any debts or other obligations of | ||
the retirement system. | ||
SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be | ||
submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 8, 2011. | ||
The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the | ||
proposition: "The constitutional amendment prohibiting the | ||
legislature from appropriating state money to a local public | ||
retirement system to pay any debts or other obligations of the | ||
retirement system." |
