| BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Article V, Texas Constitution, is amended by | ||
| adding Section 8a to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 8a. The legislature by general law may provide for a | ||
| district court to reduce or modify a sentence imposing a term of | ||
| imprisonment for a person who has served not less than 10 years of | ||
| the term. | ||
| SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be | ||
| submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 4, 2025. | ||
| The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the | ||
| proposition: "The constitutional amendment authorizing the | ||
| legislature to enact laws providing for a district court to reduce | ||
| or modify a sentence imposing a term of imprisonment for a person | ||
| who has served not less than 10 years of the term." | ||
