HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 
         WHEREAS, The dynamic community of Nocona in North Texas has
  earned distinction for itself in recent years as a center for the
  preservation and celebration of classic American automobiles; and
         WHEREAS, Situated on the historic Chisholm Trail, Nocona is
  home to impressive automotive museums created by local
  entrepreneurs Pete and Barbara Horton; the dozens of vintage,
  classic, and muscle cars found at the facilities are carefully
  maintained by museum director Billy Dean Dobbs; and
         WHEREAS, The Horton Classic Car Museum is housed in a former
  Ford dealership on West Walnut Street, and it features more than 120
  automobiles, including over 40 Corvettes from nearly every model
  year between 1953 and 1978, as well as a variety of Packards,
  Plymouths, Oldsmobiles, and a Studebaker, among other makes; and
         WHEREAS, The Horton Motor Company Museum is situated a few
  blocks away in the town's picturesque former Chevrolet dealership,
  and it contains 16 more cars from the Hortons' collection,
  including a 1965 Chevy Chevelle SS Malibu Z-16, a 1970 Plymouth
  Hemi-Cuda "Tribute" Convertible, and a 1968 Shelby GT-500 Cobra
  Mustang signed by legendary automobile designer Carroll Shelby; and
         WHEREAS, Each May, the community proudly hosts Cruisin'
  Nocona, one of the fastest growing events of its kind in the Lone
  Star State; for three days, the town attracts classic cars and car
  enthusiasts from across the state and region; events include a
  classic car cruise through the scenic hills of the Red River Valley
  and the exciting Vicari Classic Car Auction; and
         WHEREAS, American automobiles of the 1950s, '60s, and '70s
  embody our nation's robust sense of style, our love of adventure,
  and our joy in the open road, and the community of Nocona is indeed
  worthy of special distinction for its celebration of the
  indomitable spirit of the classic automobile; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the 84th Legislature of the State of Texas
  hereby designate the town of Nocona as the official Classic Car
  Capital of Texas; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That, in accordance with the provisions of Section
  391.003(e), Government Code, this designation remain in effect
  until its 10th anniversary.
