| WHEREAS, Autry C. Stephens is being posthumously inducted | ||
| into the Petroleum Hall of Fame on April 10, 2025; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Established in 1967 by the Permian Basin Petroleum | ||
| Museum in Midland, the Petroleum Hall of Fame recognizes | ||
| individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the | ||
| development of the petroleum industry or have served as inspiring | ||
| examples to those in the industry; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Autry Stephens was born in Comanche County in 1938; | ||
| he earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees in petroleum | ||
| engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, and after | ||
| working with various oil companies, he founded a sole | ||
| proprietorship in 1979, which transformed into Endeavor Energy | ||
| Resources, LP, in 2000; under his leadership, the company grew to | ||
| become one of the largest private oil and gas operators in the | ||
| Permian Basin; known for fostering a culture of innovation within | ||
| the industry, Mr. Stephens pioneered techniques for maximizing | ||
| production; moreover, he was an active philanthropist until his | ||
| passing in 2024, and his company supported such organizations as | ||
| Habitat for Humanity and the Museum of the Southwest; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Through his tremendous vision, energy, and business | ||
| acumen, Autry Stephens achieved a rare degree of success in the | ||
| dynamic oil and gas industry, and he is indeed a worthy addition to | ||
| the Petroleum Hall of Fame; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the 89th Legislature of the State of Texas | ||
| hereby honor the memory of Autry C. Stephens on the occasion of his | ||
| posthumous induction into the Petroleum Hall of Fame and pay | ||
| tribute to his life and legacy; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for his family as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
| House of Representatives and Senate. | ||
